Born in 1949 in Kondagaon in Bastar district of Chhattisgarh, Jaidev Baghel comes from a tribal artisan community. Having learned the special bronze metal casting technique known as Gadavakam from his elders, Jayadeva has inherited his art in the traditional manner. Their exquisite skill and strength come to life in elaborately crafted sculptures inspired by folklore and mythology and often featuring rural deities. Mata or mother goddesses and goddesses or semi-goddesses, who are worshiped to ward off bad harvests, epidemics and droughts, appear in different forms from time to time. Their repertoire ranges from small hand-held sculptures to large-scale artworks that adorn public spaces across India. About twenty Garhwa trainees live and work with him in the facility he has set up in Kondagaon. Winner of national and many other awards, Jaydev's work has been highly appreciated and has been displayed in many exhibitions across India and in Moscow, Heidelberg, Stuttgart, London, Oxford, Scotland, Rome, Paris, Tokyo, Singapore, Hong Kong, Bangkok . Introduction
Parnparik Bastar Shilpi Parivar Shilpi Gram, Cultural Center was registered on 31 March 1881. Seeing the excellent work of the organization's founder Dr. Jaydev Baghel, 5 acres of land was provided to the organization by Mrs. Meera Mukherjee for the establishment of the craft city, on which the craft city was constructed. Which was inaugurated by Shri Madhav Rao Scindia in the year 1991, which came to be known as Shilp Nagari. In this complex, the art of the craftsmen of rural areas of Bastar division was showcased on the world stage along with getting fair prices for their art works. Craft City was established to promote the folk art works of people living in tribal and Abujamand areas like bamboo, iron, Kavadi, tribal folk paintings, stone, cultural folk art, along with training programs for all craft genres. Is. Traditional Bastar Shilpi Family is a voluntary organization working for the upliftment of artisans, farmers, tribal women, children, Dalit backward people since 1981 in Shilpi village Bhelwanpadar Para Kondagaon dominated area of Bastar. The institution has been honored by the President of India with the "Baba Saheb Ambedkar" National Award by the Government of India in 1991 for its development and excellent work. Since its inception in 1981, the organization has been serving various rural areas and inaccessible areas of Bastar where earlier there were no facilities. By working in these areas, we have worked to take the artisans, farmers, tribal men, women and children living here forward by providing them social, economic and educational benefits. Due to which improvement in their condition has become possible.
